42 stallion candidates for the International Selection Show 2021 !
The 33rd edition of the International Selection Show, official stallion expertise of the SBS Studbook, will take place from the 5th to the 7th March 2021 in the Provincial Breeding and Horse Riding school of Gesves. Due to the current sanitary situation, this year’s edition will take place without an audience but the event will be broadcasted live on our webpage www.sbsnet.be, on our Facebook page Studbook SBS and also on clipmyhorse.TV.
After several weeks of uncertainty, the SBS Studbook - Royal Belgian Sport Horse Association ASBL - took note of the favorable decision of the provincial and municipal authorities at the beginning of February: the International Selection Show 2021 will take place in Gesves, subject to strict compliance with the health prevention measures that we all know.
The primary condition set by the political leaders is the organization behind closed doors, i.e. a face-to-face activity limited to the participants and members of the organization, of about 150 people. All precautions will also be taken with regard to equine rhinopneumonitis.
Despite this insecure climate, the preparation work (veterinary selection, engagements, etc.) was carried out with the same rigor and efficiency as in the past, which allowed the release of a special issue of our bimonthly magazine "Le Cheval de Sport belge", which is more complete and includes a central catalog on the expertise of the 2021 stallions. We have reason to be optimistic: the list of stallion candidates is of very high quality and the dressage discipline is particularly well represented this year, with 20% of the applicants!
The 42 registered stallions, of prestigious origins, are composed of 34 candidates in the jumping option and 8 candidates in the dressage option. There are 32 candidates aged 3 years, 7 candidates aged 4 years and 3 candidates aged 6 years. Among the 42 stallion candidates, there are 2 ponies and 40 horses. Schedule of the 2021 Edition
Friday 5th March from 3 pm to 5 pm: warm-up for 3 and 4 year old stallion candidates
Saturday 6th March:
8:30 am Presentation on hard floor for all candidates
11:00 am Conformation and movement in hand for all candidates
1 pm Presentation under the saddle for the 6 year-old candidates
1:30 pm Free movement for the 3 and 4 year-old candidates
5:30 pm Jumping/ Test Round for the 4 and 6 year-old candidates
Followed by proclaiming the new approved stallions 4 year-old and 6 year-old
Sunday 7th March:
1:30 pm Free movement for the 3 and 4 year-old candidates
Followed by proclaiming the new approved stallions 3 year-old and 4 year-old
