Stars at the firmament of the SBS galaxy

Nations Cups and Grand Prix joined their palmares of the weekend

More than ever, the representatives of SBS show themselves at the height of the issues of this olympic year. For some stars it was a fabulous weekend as a closure for May!

At CSIO***** Rome, one of the major appointments of the international calendar, the SBS  representatives showed themselves full force in the field of an exceptional Nations Cup and an extraordinary Grand Prix. More in detail: in the Nations Cup, the British team confirmed, including a certain TIC-TAC DU SEIGNEUR (Clinton/Darco – breeder: La Ferme du Seigneur in B-7387 Honnelles). This former Belgian champion with Jérôme Guéry, seems to have find in Ben Maher a rider at the level of his talent. The second place was taken by two teams: a French formation half SBS thanks to REVEUR DE HURTEBISE (Kashmir van Schuttershof/Capricieux des Six Censes – breeder: S. Siraux in B-7060 Soignies), ridden by Kevin Staut, and the SBS born and approved stallion VAGABOND DE LA POMME (Vigo d’Arsouilles/For Pleasure – breeder: Haras de la Pomme in F-14590 Le Pin), under the saddle of Pénélope Leprévost. The second team was the American team, with on top of the list the star HH AZUR GARDEN’S HORSES (E.O.) (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve/Sir Lui vd Zuuthoeve – breeder: N. Beaufort in B-8600 Pervijze), ridden by McLain Ward. With VAGABOND DE LA POMME, AZUR was one of the few without penalities over the two rounds. But SBS had not finished with emotions! HH AZUR GARDEN’S HORSES (E.O.) with McLain Ward and H&M ALL-IN (Kashmir van Schuttershof/Andiamo – breeder: B. Huijbregts in NL-4891 Rijsbergen), ridden by the Swedish Peder Fredericson offered us a briljant pas-de-deux with a victory and a second place in the Grand Prix, thanks to two double zeros of the three in a stunning time.

But Rome wasn’t the only CSIO on the program of this weekend. Lissabon hosted also his CSIO***, and it allowed also to one of our representatives to adjust his palmares with a victory in the Nations Cup: U-WATCH (President/Nabab de Rêve – breeder: R. Coolen in B-3680 Maaseik), with Manuel Fernandez Saro, as a part of the winning Spanish team.

Four of this performers – on a very high flight – are sired by an SBS approved stallion. Once again an evidence of the perfect harmony of the genetic choices made by SBS with the requirements of elite breeding and high level sports.

In the chapter of the SBS victories from this weekend, there was also the victory of UNDERSTONE VD KAPEL (Happy Wind d’Hof ten Bos/Gladstone – breeder: R. Socquet in B-2920 Kalmthout), ridden by the young Irish Gavin Harley over 1m45 at CSIY Opglabbeek (BEL), that of de SBS approved stallion JACKSON (Diamant de Semilly/Bengale), under the saddle of Ugo Berrittella (BEL) in the GP for 7 year olds at CSIYH Bonheiden (BEL), and that of CHANEL DU CALVAIRE (E.O.) (°2006 – Luccianno/Kashmir van Schuttershof – breeder: A. Dujacquier in B-7091 Braine-le-Comte), ridden by François Lamontagne (CAN) at CSI** Caledon (CAN).

We can’t deny that, behind the absolute stars of the discipline, a young generation of SBS horses and riders, seduced by the representatives of our Studbook, is waiting impatiently at the gate of the sportscene.

Much moves are also seen in dressage to prepare the future. Just a few days ago, the Topsport Cell of the Belgian Equestrian Sports Federation invited some Grand Prix horses and their riders to be viewed by Sjef Janssen (husband of Anky Van Grunsven and worldwide known dressage trainer). Eight combinations have been selected to continue the experience. Three of them are SBS approved stallions and their riders:

FIRST STEP EXTASY K (Don Massimo/Ferro), ridden by Larissa Pauluis

BAILAMOS BIOLLEY (Sir Donnerhall/Florestan I), ridden by Katrien Verreet

GALLIANI BIOLLEY (Sir Donnerhall/Lanciano), also ridden by Katrien Verreet

The least we can say is that SBS is in the middle of an upward going spiral! (CA)
