The Belgo-American Dream
This is yet another weekend where we have to make a choice from among the plethora of SBS rankings. Indeed, our representatives did not shy away from their task in this first week of autumn, quite the opposite!
Heading for Belgium, first of all, where the excellent results came thick and fast throughout the CSI5* in Waregem. The SBS approved stallion GARFIELD DE TIJI DES TEMPLIERS (Quasimodo Z/Goldspring de Lauzelle) kicked off the competition on Thursday by taking 7th place in the 1.50m event with his rider Jérôme Guéry (BEL). Friday, it was the turn of DM JACQMOTTE (Toulon/Indoctro – breeder: E. Bongaerts in B-3583 Paal) and Wilm Vermeir (BEL) to achieve a superb 5th place over 1.55m. Three other SBSs did even better the next day, such as the promising FATHALYS DU FRECH-TRY (Mozart des Hayettes/Ogano Sitte – breeder: D. Thirion in B-5501 Awagne) who, for her very first appearance in a CSI5*, already took the first position in the 1.40m event with American rider Spencer Smith. As for the two 10-year-olds, DIPLOMAT (Kashmir van Schuttershof/Darco – breeder: N Claeys in B-8640 Oostvleteren) and DINKY TOY VD KRANENBURG (Ugano Sitte/Kimball – breeder: J. Leterme in B-8980 Zandvoorde), they were not left out since they won 3rd and 10th place respectively over 1.55m. At the CSI2* in Bonheiden, many of them also placed, but the performance to be highlighted is the one of CAOL ILA BIRDAVENUE (E.O.) (Eros Platière/Cavalier Royale – breeder: T. Hanson in B-1750 Lennik) and Brent Gaublomme (BEL) who won 2nd place in the Grand Prix over 1.45m.
And finally, the SBS sold us THE "American Dream" as they have accumulated excellent results across the Atlantic. DALI DE VY (E.O.) (Ugano Sitte/Fidji du Fleury – breeder: D.O.L.B.Y. in B-7331 Baudour) had already set the bar high at the Columbus CSI2* with a 5th place over 1.45m, followed by a second 5th place on the same height, but this time at the Grand Prix. It was without counting on the talent of the EXOTIK SITTE (Ogano Sitte/Clinton – breeder: D. Boudrenghien in B-7904 Pipaix) and Coco Fath (USA) couple, as they finished 2nd in the 1.40m CSI2* in New York, before claiming a fantastic first place in the 1.45m Grand Prix. This last event also saw UNDERGROUND DES HAUTS DROITS (For Pleasure/Nab de Rêve – breeder: M. Devos in B-6280 Acoz-Gerpinnes), known as Barron, and his rider Lucy Davis (USA) claim 10th place. 10th place was also won by CASANOVA DE L’HERSE (Ugano Sitte/Kashmir van Schuttershof – breeder: M. Bar in B-7063 Chaussée-Notre-Dame) and François Mathy Jr (BEL) at the prestigious CSI5*. Finally, in Tryon, the one that bears her name so well, CRACK-ELLE CHAVANNAISE (E.O.) (Carving/Papillon Rouge – breeder: Y. Evrard in B-6960 Manhay) stood on the 2nd place of the $25 000 Grand Prix podium of the Fall Series.
These excellent results come in handy with the Inspection Tour 2019, coincidence? I think not! (ML)
